To Answer a Question

To Answer a Question

Ok here goes. I have more difficulty writing about myself than any project thrown my direction. I'm not sure why it's so hard. Time and time again you hear the saying "write what you know". Apparently I don't know myself. It seems those dreadful questions come haunting me on a regular basis.

 "Tell me about yourself."

"What are your likes and dislikes?"

"What is the most fascinating thing about you?".

Everytime I hear those questions this is how I want to answer:

"I'm a self-employed wife and mother of 4." (That wasn't too bad.)

"I like ketchup and hate tomatoes." (Good enough for you?)

"How in the hell am I supposed to know what's fascinating about me?" (Why don't you tell me!)

I guess I'm not sure what people are trying to get at. To me getting to know someone comes through tidbits of conversation and observation. In other words, when I'm asked questions like those above I feel as though I'm being intruded upon, like that person is simply being nosey. So just maybe, through this site, I will allow myself to be less inhibited. I will try to give you those tidbits I was referring to earlier. I will come to believe that people aren't always trying to be nosey - that they are interested in the facets of my life and what I have to say. Possibly, at some point, I will be able answer that final question: "What is the most fascinating thing about me?".

Died With a Kiss

Died With a Kiss

A mother in England may have unknowingly killed her daughter with a kiss.

Ruth Scholfield's daughter, Jennifer, died of multiple organ failure when she was only 11 days old.

Scholfield contracted the herpes virus late in her pregnancy but it was not diagnosed. She developed mouth sores after giving birth to her daughter. Apparently HSV can be hard to detect and she was only given mouthwash for her symptoms. Doctors say the baby contracted the virus either through a kiss or breastfeeding.

Ruth Scholfield wants more people to be aware of the dangers of infants contracting the virus. She has asked that more literature be made available in hospitals.

Such a sad story.

Damn Birds!

Damn Birds!

I like birds, really I do. The beautiful sound of chirping reminds me that spring is here. Peaceful nature.

Sunrise, thunk...thunk...thunk. Every morning over and over again. The damn birds crash into the bedroom window! Surely these birds have a concussion by now. I get the term "bird-brained" that's for sure. Give me a break, these things can make a bed for their babies out of twigs but they can't figure out it's their reflection in the glass and not their future lover?!

I've decided I'm either going to have a talk with the bird colony about the importance of letting me sleep or I'm getting the sling shot!
